World Cup
Well it's finally here... whether or not you like football you might have noticed that the World Cup kicked off last Friday. As usual England failed to deliver what was expected by the nation, but do we expect too much? People always speak about the "Golden Generation" but when it comes down to it how many of the players are actually world class? Personally I would only say 2 players fall into that category and they are Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney although neither one has been a consistent performer at International level. Don't get me wrong a lot of the other players would get in many of the big teams across Europe but none of them are of the level of Messi, Torres or Ronaldo.
Don't get me wrong I think England will get through the group stage but I don't see them doing any better than the Quarters, that's if we don't meet Ze Germans in the group of 16! Hopefully I will be proved wrong and England will go all the way to glory, after all in 66 we started with a goalless draw to Uruguay... Yeah right!
Also there has been some controversy over the match ball used at the world cup. Firstly the keepers complained about difficulty in predicting the flight of the ball then everyone else has started to complain, the last time i checked a football is a air filled sphere encased in leather so what makes this ball different? Some say the ball is lighter but the manufacturer Adidas denies this as they say it has to meet stringent FIFA standards and there is a set weight. Now the next excuse has come out that it's actually the difference in the air at altitude and nothing to do with the ball! I say just get on with playing the game and concentrate on winning, not on excuses as to why you didn't win!
If the ball really is difficult to handle then why haven't the players had more chance to get used to it? The main reason is the Premiership has contractual obligations... what am I getting at you may ask, well the Germans, Brazilians, Argentines and the Americans among others have been using the world cup ball all season in their domestic leagues but we couldn't do that here as we had signed a contract with another ball supplier! Well done the FA!
Anyway enough of my ranting, I will post more photography soon and am going to look into promoting the site as to get more followers.

Red Sky Shelf, Halifax - Summer 2009
Just a couple of simple images of the sky taken outside the house last summer. Neither are particularly great images but really like the colours and patterns displayed in the clouds and the silhoutte of the chimneys and tress on the first image.
Lanzarote Animal Pictures
First couple of images for you, both recently taken whilst on Honeymoon with my lovely wife Rachel in Lanzarote.
This first one is of a Lizard (Possibly a species of Gallotia Lizard , comment if you know anything more specific please). This was located at the Jameos Del Agua.
Secondly this is a Mongoose (posing nicely) at Guinate Tropical Park. Really like the backdrop of the plant with the Mongoose being centralised.
Both images where taken with a Fujifilm Finepix F40.
Welcome
Welcome to my blog,
I have created this blog with the intention of displaying my own photography for people to see and comment on.
I currently only own a cheap point and shoot digital camera but am contemplating the purchase of my first dslr camera... I'm thinking of getting a Nikon D3000. I have read multiple reviews and this seems to be the ideal camera for me as a novice digital photographer! (any feedback is appreciated).

I will shortly post some pictures that i feel are good by my own standards, I know very little about digital photography apart from what I think looks good. Please leave feedback and tell me what you think!
